Program Notes: For a retrospective concert of my music in 1994, our chair, renowned recorder performer Steve Rosenberg, ask for an opening fanfare that he could perform with one of his students. This is it. The idea is for the performers to use tempo variation as an expressive device. It seems to be fun to play, and it is not too difficult for younger or beginning recorder players.

The Duet for 2 flutes is an expressive scoring of the aforementioned work: i.e. with extensive dynamic indications, and opportunities for experimenting with different tone qualities.

An easy work with a narrow range; for students or amateurs.
